Migbel Meyer

Migbel began her inspiring journey with Why Me in 2022 as a volunteer photographer, capturing beautiful moments during a special family photoshoot. Over the next two years, she became a cherished presence at our holiday parties and various family events and fundraisers, always behind the lens, preserving precious memories. Moved by Why Me's mission and the remarkable kindness from donors who dedicate their time, services, and resources to support our families, Migbel, alongside the support from her husband and three children, accepted the position of Volunteer Coordinator in 2024.

As Volunteer Coordinator, Migbel is dedicated to enhancing volunteer engagement, recruitment, development, and retention. Understanding that our volunteers are vital to the organization, she is committed to creating a rewarding and positive experience that fosters strong connections among the team, families, and staff. She is eager to discover more volunteer opportunities that align perfectly with the unique skills of those ready to make a difference in the lives of our Why Me families.

In addition to her role as Volunteer Coordinator, Migbel serves as our Spanish interpreter. Having navigated the challenges of learning a new language herself, she deeply empathizes with families facing similar barriers. She relishes the opportunity to bridge communication gaps, but she also emphasizes the importance of learning English. Her goal is to encourage families to develop their language skills, empowering them to thrive and succeed.

Today, you can still find Migbel behind the lens at Why Me’s special events, capturing the joy and essence of our community, while also overseeing the volunteers at those events.
