Support doesn’t end when treatment does
For some families, diagnosis and treatment doesn’t follow the desired path. Despite the best effort of your child’s medical teem, it may not be possible to cure your child’s cancer. The staff at Why Me will continue to be at your side, as it is important for the entire family to accept support during this devastating time. Why Me has a community of families who have lived through the loss of their child. They too will be here to support you.
No parent is prepared for a child’s death, even if you have anticipated it during your child’s illness. The pain of the loss will always be a part of you, but with time and the support of others, parents can find a way forward. Why Me offers a monthly bereavement support group for parents. Additionally, a small group of bereaved mothers meet for lunch at Sherry’s House each month. This monthly lunch provides a more intimate setting for moms to share their grief and lean on one another for support.
Bereavement Retreat
We hold an annual bereavement retreat for families as an additional support layer. This weekend away gives parents the space to focus on the child they lost to cancer and their healing. It is important to know that at Why Me, we will never forget your angel.
Angel Tree Remembrance Evening
The holidays can be especially tough for bereaved families. Each December, we hold an evening just for our bereaved families. Attendees hang their angel ribbon on our tree and enjoy light fare.
