This will be my 4th year participating in the 100 Mile Ruck and when I cross the finish line this year I will have completed it 3 times. Why Me is an amazing organization and they are like our second family. In 2017, when my daughter Samantha was 12 years old she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphblastic Leukemia and endured over 2 years of treament. Sherry’s House helped us in so many ways and provided us with many opportunities to just be a family and not think about what we were going through. This year I am rucking for Jade, a young woman who’s life was ended way too soon due to cancer. We met Jade while attending a family meeting at Sherry’s House, Samantha and Jade would hang out together while babysitting the younger children. I am ready to endure whatever is planned this year… “It’s only 4 days not 2 years” was Samantha’s quote last year when we completed the Ruck togehter.
July 17-20, 2025 | Special Anniversary Challenge – Previous finishers of the 100 Mile Ruck March Challenge will take part in this military-inspired event where they will ruck (hike) an UNDISCLOSED number of miles over 4 days—camping out each night on the farm of a local brewery and continue on at sunrise each morning. Athletes will carry everything they need for this 4-day event on their backs, navigate the course and its obstacles, cook their meals, set up and break down their camps each night, and tend to their feet and bodies. An undisclosed amount of miles and additional obstacles along the way will make this challenge more grueling than it ever has been, but watching a child fight cancer is even worse.

100% of the proceeds go to Why Me & Sherry’s House a grass roots non-profit organization dedicated to providing love and support services to families with childhood cancer. It’s run in part by parents that lived this experience first-hand, the dedicated staff and volunteers understand what families with a pediatric cancer patient need and are passionate about services provided.
