Event Navigation

Parent to Parent aims to inform families about different aspects of childhood cancer and enable parents to gain confidence and support by sharing their experiences with one another – from diagnosis, through treatment and into survivorship.
Our topic for this month’s meeting will be: Summer Camps for children, siblings and families.
There are many different camp opportunities available to our Why Me children and families. Some camps offer unique programming for the entire family, while other caters specifically to the patient. We will talk through the different programs including but not limited to: Camp Sunshine, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Camp Rising Sun, Camp Casco and Dream Day on Cape Cod. We will provide eligibility and application information. We have many families who have participated in these various programs, so it would be a good opportunity for anyone with questions to talk to those who might have first hand experiences. We will also save time for those who might have any additional questions or topics they would like to discuss.
The group is facilitated by Danielle Sikonski, director of family services and Jenna Dickerman, LICSW, pediatric oncology social worker from UMass Memorial. Any family who has had a child in active treatment is welcome, regardless of the treating institution. Pizza will be provided at 6pm. If you wish to come just for the meeting, arrive by 6:30pm. Childcare is provided. RSVP to Danielle at dsikonski@whyme.org or call 508-757-7734.
