Parent to Parent Support Group
November 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Parent to Parent Support Group is a peer group that offers support and information for those who have a child with cancer–whether on treatment or who have completed treatment. Our monthly meetings inform families about different aspects of childhood cancer and enable parents to gain confidence by sharing their experiences with each other. More importantly, this group offers a safe environment for parents to openly discuss various medical and social issues related to childhood cancer.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: Nicole Nolan, Certified Child Life Specialist at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center
Topics Nicole will talk about are..
- How to reduce stress at home when taking medications, as well as prior to visits and/or while driving in
- Review distraction techniques
- Tips on age appropriate language we can use when talking to children in regards to cancer/procedures/treatment etc.
The group is facilitated by a local Pediatric Social Worker. Any family who has had a child in active treatment is welcome, regardless of the treating institution. Visit our Parent to Parent FAQ PDF. Dinner and childcare are provided. RSVP to Danielle at email@example.com or call 508-757-7734.
